What are the rules on coaching players during Smash games?
Coaching players during Smash games is allowed; however, this is not generally the case in the pros or at the college level.
Do Smash Bros Ultimate single players need to have Nintendo Friend IDs linked?
No. Some players will be playing from school accounts and not their personal accounts so it’s not necessary.
What scores should players be recording in LeagueSpot?
In the regular season 5v5 Smash competition, record the score for each match. Games 1 and 2 are each 3 points, games 3 and 4 are each 4 points, and game 5 is 5 points.
In the Smash singles competition, record 1 point for each win. For example, if one player wins both games, the final score tally will show 2-0. (Two games are recorded. Record 1-0 for each game.)
Are taunts allowed?
In order to maintain a high level of sportsmanship taunting is not allowed; however, there are certain combos for certain characters that incorporate taunts. Taunts used in these cases are acceptable. If in doubt about whether a taunt is acceptable, contact WIHSEA officials and they will make determinations on a case by case basis.
Is Smash Singles limited to high school?
The Smash Singles tournament is open to community members (any student) with the stipulation that if they qualify for State, they will attend.
For Smash Singles, do players need to play from school as is required for other titles?
No. They can play remotely. Smash singles were moved to 4:00pm (from 7:00pm) so those who need to play at school have more access to being able to.
Is there a Smash Singles preseason week?
No. Smash Singles starts right away on Monday September 16th.
